The React team announced the launch of the React Foundation in February 2026, hosted by the Linux Foundation, with independent ownership of React and related projects. [1]
A proposed project brief inspired by the period’s developments. This is an idea for exploration, not an announced Sansa product, an approved roadmap or a claim of completed client work.
Follow the critical paths
Start with the dependencies behind authentication, data access, payments and the main user interface. Record their deployed versions, maintenance status and the parts of the product they support. Distinguish direct dependencies from packages introduced indirectly.
Name the maintenance decisions
Assign an internal owner to each important dependency group. Document how updates are evaluated and which changes need a broader review. Identify packages that are unused, poorly understood or difficult to upgrade, then order the work by operational importance.
Deliver a plan people can keep current
The result would be a compact ownership map and a prioritised maintenance backlog. Avoid creating a catalogue so elaborate that nobody updates it. The test is whether a team member can quickly find who should evaluate an upstream change and what part of the product may be affected.
